Moon Lovers : Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016) - Full Drama Review

Scarlet Heart Ryeo has come to an end. So I decided that I must do full review on this drama because I just loved it so much.

Scarlet Heart Ryeo must probably be one of the best Historical Korean Drama I have seen. This drama is just so good. I don't have words to express how sad I felt after this drama ended. I just wanted it to continue, but I know that is not possible. When you want more of the drama you are watching then that is the proof that the drama was really good. Scarlet Heart Ryeo was amazing.

Scarlet Heart Ryeo follows a girl who is broken in the present day and gets to time travel back in time in Goryeo Era where she meets seven princes, one of them is 4th Prince Wang So who is known to be brutal and scary. She falls in love with him and their story unfolds.

The is story is not simple as you think. When you think Royalty, you think a King, a Queen, Princes, Princess, Glam and Glory. But there much more to it than just that. Scarlet Heart Ryeo portrays flip side of the coin, which is politics, sibling rivalry, war, blood and death.

I think it is very important to know this side as well. Life in a palace is not easy as it seems. Scarlet Heart Ryeo does an excellent job showing that. Props to the writer of the drama and the author of the novel Bu Bu Jing Xin, Tong Hua. This drama is based on Tong Hua's book and also a remake of 2011 Chinese Drama Scarlet Heart.

Scarlet Heart Ryeo stars Lee Junki (Wang So) and IU (Hae Soo ) as lead characters. They did an amazing job in this drama. I loved their chemistry, The SoSoo couple were super cute with each other.

Wang So played by Lee Junki does an amazing job portraying a brutal and scary prince. His character goes through a lot of change in the drama. As he falls in love with Hae Soo, you see a change in his mind set. He is such a misunderstood character in the drama that you truly want to help him out.
He has this scar on this face which causes other people to treat him differently. But still somewhere you see love for this family and especially for his mother. Wang So by no means is a perfect and ideal person to be with. But still you understand him and want him to be happy in the end.

Hae Soo played by IU is a cheerful and kind person. In the Beginning she brought all the princes together with her cheerfulness. But as the story proceeds you see her change drastically. Her cheerfulness is taken over by seriousness. Only with Wang So, she can become her real self. She knows the future and wants to change the present for the sake of love. She wants Wang So to be a kind and just king rather than a bloody monarch.

All the side characters in this drama had equal importance in the story and the world building. I cannot talk about each and every character but I will talk about my favourite ones in the drama.
First Being Wang Eun played by Baekhyun, his character was so cute and funny. Amongst the princes, he is the most funny and cheerful prince. He is not a strong prince but you'll see towards the end how strong he can get. Loved his character a lot. Second being Baek Ha the 13th prince, I liked him a lot from the beginning. He was most practical and relatable character amongst the princes. Third being the 14th prince Wang Jung, his character was strong from the beginning, but you see him change from a teenager to a fully grown man. You see this drastic change him as the story goes ahead. Loved him a lot.

All the characters had really good character development. You see each and every character growing and changing, which is a plus point for the drama. In 20 episodes, you get know each and very character really well. If you are a person who gets attached to characters really quickly then you might not like this drama because the death rate of characters in this drama is quite high.

The drama is beautifully shot and you really feel like you are present right there when things are happening. It does really good job in balancing things out in the drama, story wise. There are instances where things go down and then there is a calm period in between and then again things get worse. I like this part of the drama because audience gets a chance to breath for a while in the between. The political part of the drama was really interesting as well. Usually I get bored if there is politics involved but this drama has some interesting politics which kept me far away from boredom.

Getting to the negatives, there are no such huge negative points for me to point out in this drama. The drama had only 20 episodes to tell the entire story, so sometimes I felt it was a bit rushed. But then again only 20 episodes to tell such a big and intense story is also a challenge. Scarlet Heart Ryeo did a good job pulling that off.

Scarlet Heart Ryeo is an intense story. It has romance, politics and drama. If you are a fan of such a genre then you will enjoy this drama to bits. I loved this drama to bits. And I am sure you will love this drama as well.

A Must Watch !!!

Eternal Love : Ten Miles of Peach Blossom (2017) - Chinese Drama Review

Poster Credit : to the owner Recently I have been so busy that I don’t get time to watch many dramas but then I came across few clips of Eternal Love: Ten miles of Peach Blossom and I decided to watch it as it intrigued me. It was my best decision as it was so good. Bai Qian is a princess of Qing Qiu a Fox Tribe, with the help of Zhe Yan she becomes a disciple of Mo Yuan, God of War. After a devastating war, immortals pay a huge price to seal the Ghost lord of Qing Cang. 70,000 years later, Bai Qian in attempt to re-seal the Ghost lord loses her memories and is send to mortal realm and there she meets Ye Hua, Crown Prince of Nine Heavens. And their love story begins. So hard to write summary for a fantasy drama as you don’t want to give too much away. The world created in this drama is so beautiful and magnificent to watch. But more than the world building, the characters are important as you cannot fall in love with a fantasy world without good characters in it.

Full House Thai Drama

photo credits: to the owner  I still remember the feeling I got by watching one of the famous Korean drama Full-house , which was utterly amazing. I had completed that drama within two days. I know it’s crazy but that’s how good the drama was and is. It was the first ever Asian drama I had watched, hence it holds a special place in my heart. If the original version was this good, I had to check out the new version of Full-house drama which was released in 2014, and I have to say that it was amazing. Full-house Thai Drama is remake of the same Korean drama Full-house, even though being the same story it does have its own colors and characteristics. Full-house is a story about a girl Aom-am who is tricked by her friends to go to Korea for a vacation so that they could sell her house and make money for themselves. Being a naïve girl, she is badly tricked and now a homeless girl she has nowhere to go. The only house she had was taken away from her by her own friends.
