Defendant (2017) - Kdrama Full Review


Its been a while since I have gone through a drama this fast. It took me two days to finish this drama. You know a drama is good if it hooks you up this fast and you are stuck at it wanting to find out more. This drama is exactly like that. I m always up for suspense and thriller movies or dramas. Defendant was a complete package of things which I look in a suspense/thriller genre.

Defendant is a story of a prosecutor Park Jeong Woo (Ji Sung) who is charged for killing own his family. Jeong Woo, now gets a short term memory loss and has no idea what has happened and what made him kill his family or whether or not he has killed them or is he being framed?
The rest of the story follows him trying to solve the mystery and finding out the real culprit behind all of this.

This is all I could say about the drama plot. If I give in more information about the plot then you might not enjoy the drama. When it comes to suspense and thriller dramas or movies it is better to not know anything or else the fun is lost.

This drama stars one of my favorite actor Ji Sung, I don’t even have to say how good he is in this drama. This entire drama is carried by two lead actor that is Ji Sung and Uhm Ki Joon. Such an outstanding performance by both of them.

I want to get in to the characters but I wont because these characters play important role in the drama as they make a part of the suspense plot-line. It is better to know them while you watch the drama. But nonetheless, all of the supporting actors played the characters so well that you get attached to them more. You care for these characters more than anything. This drama makes you root for the lead character as well as the other who are supporting him.

Sometimes this drama gives you and adrenaline rush which I love so much. I expect and want a suspense drama to give me those feels and rush. There are few episodes which are just mind blowing.

This drama is truly well written and mind-blowing but it is not perfect. I had my problems with this drama. Firstly, being a little inconsistent in some parts through out the drama. Some times it gets a bit boring due to unwanted parts which I think are added just for some filler. Secondly, confusing time-line makes it harder to recall some elements which might be important. I watched this drama continuously, so I didn’t find any problems with the time-line but if you are going to watch this drama two episodes per day then you might forget important details and it might get a little hard to follow. Lastly, the pacing of the drama was sometimes too fast and sometimes too slow which might bother some viewers. It did bother me a little but then again I let it go.

Regardless, this drama was really a lot of fun and kept me on the edge of my seat. This drama is completely story driven but the characters play a crucial role in building the story which is huge plus point.

Many a times in a suspense and thriller genre, the focus is given more on the story than the characters but I think it is important to focus on both the elements. This drama does that and nails it completely.

I recommend you guys to watch this drama if you are in for some intense and thrilling stuff. Defendant is surely a fun and thrilling ride that you must at least try once.

But more than the world building, the characters are important as you cannot fall in love with a fantasy world without good characters in it.

Full House Thai Drama

photo credits: to the owner  I still remember the feeling I got by watching one of the famous Korean drama Full-house , which was utterly amazing. I had completed that drama within two days. I know it’s crazy but that’s how good the drama was and is. It was the first ever Asian drama I had watched, hence it holds a special place in my heart. If the original version was this good, I had to check out the new version of Full-house drama which was released in 2014, and I have to say that it was amazing. Full-house Thai Drama is remake of the same Korean drama Full-house, even though being the same story it does have its own colors and characteristics. Full-house is a story about a girl Aom-am who is tricked by her friends to go to Korea for a vacation so that they could sell her house and make money for themselves. Being a naïve girl, she is badly tricked and now a homeless girl she has nowhere to go. The only house she had was taken away from her by her own friends.
